She gave birth to a son named Constantine who later on became a great emperor. After his rise to power, Emperor Constantine venerated his motherís simple way of life.

Saint Helen was authorized by her son to search for religious relics and is regarded as the one who discovered the True Cross (the actual cross used during Jesusí crucifixion).
