Martyred due to her refusal to marry a Roman prefect, Saint Juliana of Cumae chose to stay true to her faith and keep her virtue.
She is often confused with St. Juliana of Nicomedia due to the fact that Saint Juliana of Cumae’s relics was relocated from Nicomedia as well.
Saint Juliana of Nicomedia is said to have suffered Christian martyrdom during the Diocletian persecution in 304. She was popular in the Middle Ages, especially in the Netherlands, as the patron saint of sickness.
